Fighting the Djinn

(cross posted on my UFO blog The Orange Orb. I'm posting it here as well for its astral realm reference, but also because Djinn will mimic poltergiest and ghostly/haunting activity.)

Now, I've been very interested in learning about the Djinn for some time. Particularly the relationship between some UFO/alien encounters and Djinn. One book high on my list is Rosemary Ellen Guiley's The Djinn Connection: The Hidden Links Between Djinn, Shadow People, ETs, Nephilim, Archons, Reptilians & Other Entities.
Guiley was on Coast to Coast last night, and as usual, I listened to some of the interview but had to go to sleep (damn it! I should probably sign up for the Coast to Coast insider) and I had a very disturbing dream. I really don't remember much in way of details -- my dreams are usually extremely detailed -- and it wasn't a pleasant dream. The emotion, the feeling, was so unpleasant; I'd call it a nightmare, and in many ways it was, but I was half-awake the whole time. All I remember is finding myself in some gray astral realm where the Djinn lived, and they were not pleasant beings at all. Very mean individuals. And I, I was doing whatever I could to get away. I couldn't get away physically -- it was like I was stuck in some sort of astral plane quicksand -- but with sheer force of emotion, intense anger (after all, they were pissing me off!) I called upon every positive thing, force, and being I could think of to help me get out of there. For awhile, every time I managed to get out of the strange gray "quicksand" I only became stuck all over again. Maybe less so each time, but not an easy thing to do, escape this realm. Finally, after exhausting myself with prayer, anger, force of will and just plain fighting them, I got away. The Djinn were both happy with my struggles -- a game to them -- as well as displeased I was thinking about them.

I read this on Guiley's site about the Djinn:
FAQS About the Djinn | Vengeful Djinn: Q: Can the Djinn cause nightmares?

A: Yes, like some other entities, they can cause unpleasant dreams, especially “dreams” that are real experiences in an alternate reality. When they wish to manipulate and control, they are capable of interfering in sleep.

There is also this, about getting rid of Djinn:
Q: Are there ways to minimize Djinn visitations?

A: Like dealing with all kind of entities, one must often experiment to find an effective solution, as results vary by individual. However, many people have found that leaving lights, radios and television sets on dampen down paranormal experiences in general. The fields of energy generated by these devices may interfere with the energy fields of the Djinn, as well as other kinds of entities. Some people also have success with prayer, invocations of angels, and with forcefully telling the intruders to leave.

Return of the Missing Chopstick

Couple of weird little things in the past few days. Firstly: I've been seeing things out of the corners of my eyes. Nope, not floaters or migraines. I mean, I've been seeing, say, a brown car go by down the road, except in an odd spot, look again, and realize it isn't a car at all, and anyway, no car could possibly fit in that spot, or would need to be there in the first place. Just moments like that, random, but enough for me to say to myself out loud in the car the other day, when it happened yet again "I'm seeing things -- this is very weird!" Being who I am, none of this has worried me in any way, in fact, I take it as  a communication. From something, for some reason -- who, what, and why, to be determined. One reason I wasn't worried was that just before these little glimpses of whatevers, I had been thinking very heavily on the "ghost" -- more like a residual energy -- left behind in our house. Every now and then it seems to wake up. I've also had some interesting observations regarding my cats, particularly one of the cats. Maybe my focusing on these things had something to do with the activity.

Then the other morning I hear Jim calling to me from the kitchen. "There is NO WAY this happened!" he said. What he found was the missing chopstick. Years ago, a friend of ours made us two pair of wooden chopsticks. Simple, and elegant. And the best damn chopsticks I've ever used. They were just perfect. In every way. No other pair of chopsticks has come close to the two pair given to us by our friend. Then, somehow, I lost my pair. But Jim, the lucky bastard, had his. Until he lost one of the two chopsticks. We looked everywhere. For days. And every now and then for the past couple of years. But no chopstick. For sentimental reasons, he kept the one lone chopstick.

So the other morning, Jim is baffled by his find. The missing chopstick, wedged in between one of the plastic drawer thingies we have on a shelf, and the wall. Now, we most certainly would have seen that chopstick -- we use that drawer several times a day. There isn't any way we could not notice a chopstick -- the wondrous, magical chopstick -- wedged between the drawer and the wall of the cupboard.

And anyway, just why would a chopstick end up on a cupboard shelf, next to a drawer? Just one of those weird things.

Mrs. Mother: Past Lives, Moldavite

Bought a beautiful moldavite pendant on an ebay auction recently. The description said the item wouldn't arrive until around March 20th, but it arrived today, just as I was leaving the house to drive to the coast, a happy bit of timing for my birthday gift to myself.

Last night, I was hoping that the moldavite would arrive before I left. I was also working with Doreen Virtue's Angel Dreams oracle and developing my psychic skills. Specifically, working with spirit guides and energies.

Last night had the most vivid dream that was clearly a past life encounter:

With friends, including on-line friends and Fortean researchers, upstairs in a room that is painted a light blue color. We're here to watch a classic film -- European, subtitled. In the waking "real" world, there is no such film as this, but in the dream, it's understood this black and white movie is a classic. An "art house" type film, that all of us have seen at least three or four times in our lives. So here we are together, ready for a pleasant afternoon of watching this favorite classic movie.

Just as the movie is starting, I wonder if I shouldn't call  my mother. My husband suggests I should as well. I hear my mother "calling" me - telepathically, she's telling me she's worried about me. I also see and hear my father (who is deceased) appearing to me, telling me I should call my mother. (In waking life this would be very strange indeed since my parents divorced when I was t I say "This is kind of silly, I'm an adult, I don't need to check in with my mother," but it's not about asking permission, it's about contacting her. I call her and she tells me she's relived to hear from me, she was just worried and wanted to know where i was.

Then the dream shifts. I'm about 9 years old, very precocious. It's the mid or late 1920s. I know we're somewhere in Western Europe, on a very large estate.  I'm with my mother -- only the woman isn't my mother in waking/real life. In fact, I call her something like "Mrs. M," or "Mrs. Mom," maybe Mrs. Mother. While that sounds formal, the feeling between us isn't. It's very loving and trusting. We're both dressed in woolen trench coats --mine is hwite -- and aviator goggles and hats. We're trying to fix our plane so we can take off. Escape, actually. For there is a man, connected to the military, in the second story window of the mansion on this property. He has a rifle, and he is aiming right at us. His only goal is to kill us.

Both "Mrs. M" and I are working urgently, and of course we don't want to die. But at the same time, I'm resigned to the very likely possibility we might very well die. It is what it is. While I'd certainly prefer not to die, if I do, well, that's the way it needs to be. Mrs. M and I have a conversation as we're working on the plane. I ask her:
"You're not my real mother, are you?"
"No, well, yes. This time, this third life around, I am. Here, on this earth. Don't you remember? We worked this out before you came here. Your other mothers had you, now, you're with me for this time."
"Oh, that's right." I say. "I remember now." I pause, then ask her, "You really do love me though, right?"
"Of course I do! Very much," and I believe her, absolutely.
The man in the window takes aim. He begins to pull the trigger. We look up, facing him. At that moment, a huge brilliant white orb of light comes flying down, between us and the man in the window. The orb blocks out the sun, and the brilliance of the light blinds the man. I hear an explosion; of the rifle, I"m not sure, of the ball of light, certainly, and I find myself tumbling though space.

This is what one site says about one of Moldavite's properties:
Moldavite is an excellent stone to use to assist in astral travel and in the communication with spirit guides. Moldavite also assists in past life regression and it can help you to see into the future. source

"The Moldavite Man" writes:
There are many benefits of this stone, and exposure to it, including, activating the dream state when worn while sleeping...

Naveed's Realm: Ghost child in the hallway

It's good to see Naveed blogging again -- like myself, it seems he's having a hard time getting back into the esoteric groove. Here he writes about an odd apparition in his home. What I found interesting was the echo of what I wrote about for my upcoming Trickster's Realm column (should be up sometime soon) where I comment that, while weird things happen now and then in my home, I wouldn't say it's super active, haunting wise. Nessie As Ghost | TDG - Science, Magick, Myth and History

At The Daily Grail, this highly cool blog from "emlong":Nessie As Ghost:
You cannot imagine how Jungiangly dumbfounded I was this morning to see that TDG link speculating that "monsters" such as Nessie might be ghosts. I had started to write a blog entry along those lines yesterday but then got sidetracked and did not complete it. Once you have digested as many of the better TV ghost hunting shows as I have the idea of these fortean creatures being ghosts makes all the sense in the world. Spirits often shape shift like crazy when they are particularly energetic and mischievous. The demonic ones relish morphing into various monstrosities, and if the ghosts of people and creatures such as dogs, cats, horses, whatever can rise from the dead and visually manifest then the idea of a creature separated only by vastly more distant time seems quite possible especially given that one of the first average human illusions to fall by the wayside when ghost hunting is that time carries any weight at all. The "distant" past means absolutely nothing in terms of the ability to manifest in the here and now. Energy apparently resides dormant in matter indefinitely and can be reawakened at any "time."

Very interesting theory that we've seen before, but not often.

Stephen Wagner: Animals and Ghosts

At About.com, paranormal writer Stephen Wagner has a post about animals and ghosts:Animals and Ghosts. His article reminded me of two animal ghost "dreams" I've had.

Sometimes ghosts and spirits communicate through dreams. I had a dog when I was a teenager -- Hobbit. He was with me until my early twenties, when I had to sadly give him away. A few years later I knew Hobbit had passed. He came to visit me in a "dream." He was running towards me in a swirling tunnel of violet and golden light, and "spoke" to me. Hobbit was very happy, and told me he was grateful for the love I gave him and he was all right; it was just his time to move on.

A couple of years ago I had another dream of a beloved pet. My cat Puck was very old, and we knew he was dying. I sat with him for hours on our front porch, held him in my lap as he let go of life. When I left him on his bed I knew he would pass. He was ill and for years had been in a lot of discomfort. Later that night, I had a dream/vision of Puck being sucked up into a whirling funnel of red and yellow light. Unlike Hobbit's experience, Puck's passing was not easy; he was yowling, angry and in pain, as he went up through the funnel. We buried him in the front yard the next morning.

Lizzie Borden House and The Dead Files

The Dead Files returned for its new season last Friday; site of the investigation, the Lizzie Borden house. The Lizzie Borden case is fascinating. I've been intrigued by this story for decades. Did she do it? I'm certain she did. And it's a given the place is haunted, that's not debatable. Questions about intent, interactions and overall healthiness of constantly calling up the spirits came to me as I was watching the season opener.

The Borden house is now a bed and breakfast. People come from all over the world to stay there. The owner Lee-ann Wilber seems like an odd duck to me; she was on an episode of Ghost Adventures as well a season or two back. Both times she came across as ... strange. I remarked to someone watching the program with me that it doesn't seem healthy to live in a house like that, or spend a lot of time there. After awhile, I am sure something unwholesome is affecting your psyche. And I wondered about the spirits themselves: it's possible the spirits in that house have been become cranky. (Not to suggest they were ever positive; murder victims, sexual abusers, sadistic and debased individuals, murders, fear, pain, make for oppressive and angry ghosts.) A constant parade of people gawking at the gory supernatural carnival comes through the Borden house.  Who feeds whom? Both no doubt. What is true, what has been fed and created? The owners fuel contact; a ouija board, hidden under a sofa, was found by Amy Allan, the show's medium. Allan told the owners she isn't "anti-ouija" but, in this case, having the board there and making it available to paranormal thrill seekers isn't positive.

As the program pointed out, several years ago it was theorized that Lizzie and her sister were both physically and sexually abused. A very solid theory.

Amy Allan, The Dead Files medium, confirmed my feelings about the spirits in the place. She told the owner of the Borden bed and breakfast that the spirits are "...tired of being contacted" and strongly suggested to the owner she stop being so public. It doesn't look like the owner will; it's a money maker after all. In fact, you can buy a Lizzie Borden bobble head doll and other items from the bed and breakfast/museum site. And soon to come, according to their website, will be ghost cams. Oy.

"Spirit Intrusion"

While relating the ghost encounters at work, someone referred to the ghost as a "spirit intrusion." I had never heard that term before. I wanted to ask this person about it but the situation wasn't right. "Spirit intrusion." From the brief on-line searching I did, it seems to be a term or concept related to Shamanism and the chakras. Here it's described, not in terms of ghosts, but a physical ill within one's body.

Here's something (scroll down a bit) concerning some Native American traditions. Like the above, it concerns the physical body and ills, with spirit and souls being the invasive cause.

While I'm unfamiliar with this concept of "spirit intrusion" I'm not so sure the ghost in this case is a case of what a colleague said about spirit intrusion. I think this person meant all ghosts are "spirit intrusions" and I'm not sure really what she meant. I had the feeling she believes all "ghosts" are manifestations of unease that are heavily tied in with the observer. If I get the opportunity I'd like to discuss this and find out more with this person. In the meantime, this is a new and interesting path to explore.

Sylvia Beach Hotel, Newport Oregon: Haunted or Photo Glitch?

Here's one of my Trickster Realm columns for Tim Binnall's site that I wrote a couple of years ago:<a href="http://binnallofamerica.com/tr6.8.9.html"> Newport, Oregon: A Haunted Hotel?</a>

The Sylvia Beach Hotel in Newport, Oregon is a unique place with an interesting history. The hotel is in the Nye Beach area; which until recently was exceedingly funky and charming. Now they've gone upscale and the looming, out of place, over priced condos and stores are a gloomy statement on things to come. The juxtaposition of old, shambled structures with tall cold modern buildings is typical in many beach towns. That aside, I still love the area and spend a lot of time there.

As I note in the article, I don't think the owners are very open to the possibility the place is haunted. I get the impression they don't have time for such nonsense. But I have felt some very intense and slightly unhappy energy in some spots while visiting. Does the photograph show something of a ghostly nature, or a glitch in the camera? Can't say, but do know this is the spot where things felt very unpleasant.

Ghost Synchronicity: Stories at Work

A synchronicity; after starting this blog about ghosts, a lively discussion of the ghost at my place of employment. This conversation was not started by me in any way; it erupted spontaneously between two staff members when I was in the room. A colleague echoed what I've always thought: given we've both had life time experiences with haunted places and have had our share of ghostly encounters, neither of us have had much, at all, tingling of our ghostie-senses. Others have, and there was, according to another employee (who also lived in a haunted house) a recent episode of activity.

It's interesting I seem to just not be getting the vibe, even though I certainly have in so many other situations, including those I wish I hadn't welcomed. (I wish I hadn't encountered a few!) But at my place of work, barely nothing in terms of bumping up against the ghost.

I have felt ... vague but still viable enough feelings at times. And I've always felt uncomfortable in a certain part of the building, but never attributed it to a ghost. Instead, I just figured it was because it was far from my own station, or it was too cold up there, something like that. But I was surprised to hear one of the women say that she's always felt uncomfortable in that part of the building, and she attributes it to the ghost.

There have been strange things happening, witnessed by others through the years. Nothing malevolent in any way. I know this is frustrating but since it's a public place and I work there I can't say anymore. But one thing seems clear; just about any building, and certainly one that is a few decades old, and has gone through several remodels, built on land that is still, in parts, untouched, is full of energy from so many bodies from so many backgrounds. All of that contributes to a place ripe for spirit energy.

Exploding Glass

(Orignially posted on The Orange Orb, March 21, 2010)

A strange and kind of cool thing happened earlier this evening. Jim and I were watching 'Psychic Investigators' while eating our dinner. We were also talking -- a lot. We talk a lot anyway, but we were kind of on a high, for some reason. We started off commenting on the program; then debunkers, then the Flatwoods case and my article I had just finished about that for Trickster's Realm, MK Ultra, the recent book and news about the LSD experiments in France, and so on. Just your typical kind of UFO/Fortean/esoteric nerd kind of conversation.

The energy was kind of "buzzy" and I had a distinct thought that "Hmm, Jim's really excited about this stuff," more so than usual that is, as I was. We were talking about Project Stargate and remote viewing and the idea that the government hadn't shut down a damn thing, just gone deeper down into the depths with their covert RV/mind control selves, when my plate exploded in my lap.

It's a heavy glass plate. I had it resting in my lap; we both heard a lot "bang" and the plate had broken into six pieces. We looked at each other and Jim said "That was pretty cool." Which was an insipid thing to say but I had to agree; it was "pretty cool." It made us laugh. The timing of the thing was weird, the thing itself was weird. A perfectly good plate, a heavy one at that, and it just broke into six clean pieces.

This happened to me one time before, when I was sixteen or so. I was sitting in my girlfriend's living room. I remember we were talking about sex, and, about ghosts.  A heavy green glass ashtray that was sitting on the bottom shelf of the TV stand kind of rose up in the air then, a loud bang, and the ashtray broke right in half. We both just looked at each other and, well, freaked. Obviously the combination of energies contributed to that incident; our age, the sexual charges in the air, and the communication-connection to the other side. A guarantee for that kind of thing.
